Rio de Janeiro is a marvelous city that is known for more than it’s extraordinary beauty and exuberant pop culture. Urban violence is a problem that is no longer domestic but is recognized and spoken worldwide.

In the painting, the artist creates a symbolic meaning of peace,suggesting the circles in the

sky resemble peace which emanates from the hands of the CRISTO REDENTOR (Christ the Redeemer), which is not only found on the city’s hilltop but within each person. Representing the crowds cry for peace, samba school dancers release doves that symbolize peace.

Note: The painting not only obtains three dimensional effects through the use of optical illusions but when observing it with appropriate samba music, the viewer feels a stronger connection to the movements danced by the samba dancers.
